A CO2 gas flooding system, also known as a carbon dioxide fire suppression system, is a specialized fire protection system designed to extinguish fires by displacing oxygen from the protected area. CO2 gas is colorless, odorless, and non-conductive, making it suitable for use in a wide range of applications, including electrical and flammable liquid fire hazards. The system includes a network of smoke detectors, heat detectors, or fire alarm devices that sense the presence of a fire. Once a fire is detected, the system triggers an alarm and initiates the release of CO2 gas into the protected area. CO2 gas is stored in high-pressure cylinders or tanks located in a designated storage area. Upon activation, the gas is released through a network of pipes and nozzles or discharge outlets, distributing it evenly throughout the protected space. The discharged CO2 gas rapidly fills the protected area, creating a localized oxygen-deficient environment. With the reduced oxygen level, the fire is starved of oxygen, inhibiting its ability to grow and sustain itself.
